The Nutcracker
A quick post today to showcase what has become a holiday tradition for many.

I've read that Tchaikovsky wasn't overly fond of his (likely) most famous creation. When he accepted the commission to write it, he supposedly didn't really want to, although another source says the characters began to grow on him as he wrote.

The original story of The Nutcracker was a german story by E. T. A. Hoffman (The Nutcracker and the Mouse King). Alexandre Dumas later re-wrote it slightly some years later, and it was the Dumas version that Tchaikovsky used to create his ballet.

This Day in History: The Nutcracker premiered on this day at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. What year was it?

I am unsure of the date but this is an inspirational posting as it reminds me of so many special moments in the lives of all writers, artists and in fact creative individuals you often discover the magic of your art when you least expect to.
