A short post today. I hope that you and your family have had a very Merry Christmas, or just a nice restful day if you don't celebrate.
Charlemagne (Charles the Great) was King of the Franks. He is generally credited as the father of both France and Germany, as the Frankish kingdom encompassed what is now both countries as well as many smaller ones in between and around.
No one really knows what he looked like. The painting to your left was painted by Albrecht Duerer centuries after his death based on possible descriptions.Today's Question: Charlemagne was crowned Imperator Augustus by Pope Leo III on Christmas Day in Rome in what year?
