Thursday Thirteen #5
Thirteen things I wish I could do
1. Play an instrument - my mother played the piano and cello, but I refused to learn; I wish she'd made me do it, but then I might not like it as much
2. Draw or paint - I'm lucky we have rulers or I couldn't even draw a straight line; my dh and both kids draw and paint beautifully
3. Lose weight - someday when I have more willpower
4. Speak another language fluently - I can get around in German, and I read it better, but I still need the occasional dictionary or hand signs
5. Swim the length of the pool without getting winded - I would do it more often if I could, and if I did it more often it would be easier to do; a typical catch-22
6. Understand html - I keep promising myself I'm going to create a website; maybe one of these days
7. Knit or crochet - I can sew, cross-stitch, and am pretty crafty, but I never learned and sometimes I wish I could
8. Bake like my mother and grandmother could - they didn't even use recipes and their pies and cakes were heavenly! Of course, if I could, #3 would be even harder!!
9. Fly a plane - just once I'd like to see what it's like
10. Skydive - another "just once" wish
11. Water ski - this looks like so much fun
12. Understand economics - unfortunately it involves numbers
13. Come up with something better for Thursday Thirteen - next week I promise something more read-worthy!

I learned a little html and found out how to change my background. Now I could do it everyday, lol !

I know the battle of losing weight too. Also, can totally relate to wanting to bake like my mother. The house smelled heavenly each Christmas and Easter.

I'm all about lessons learned from my parents this week at chicken-scratch.

wow! those are pretty interesting list!! the weight loss is something i've been struggling all this time, ha ha ha!! it's easier said than done! great list this week!

I totally agree with you about 2 and 9. I have no hope of achieving 12, and I can heartily recommend 10.

My TT at http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/

HTML is easy. Can learn it a weekend. Get a little book out from the library.

This was read-worthy! We're getting to know you.

I right with you on #1!! I want to play the harp.

The best part about this list is that if you really put thought and focus into doing any of these things, you WILL be able to do them. =)

Happy TT!

LOL! I'm with you on most of these. I did learn to play the piano--had 7 years of lessons when I was a kid--but I never had the natural talent my brother and dad do, and can only follow sheet music if it's in front of me.

I can do some html--mostly via copying what someone else did until I understood what I was doing. There are plenty of websites that'll get you started.

I'm way too chicken to skydive, and I'm fine with numbers (accounting degree), but the rest of it (including, pretty much to the letter, #4)--yep, I completely agree. :)

13 is just NOT true. I enjoyed your list very much.
I would like to do many of the things on your list too!
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
My TT is posted.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy TT'ing!

I wish I could bake and sew like my mom. She's so talented and I swear she kept all that talent to herself, lol. I'm hopeless with a needle and thread.

Michelle flew a plane once. No landings or take off, just handled the controls in the air.

Mandy paints. (michelle thinks she needs to do that more!)

We both want to learn a fluent 2nd language.

GREAT T13! :)

We did our t13 about Johnny Depp movies. ;)

good list. My mother made me learn piano. I don't play as much as I used to, but it was a great way to see many sights with a show choir and good conversation starter

I love to bake. Which was hard when I was trying to lose weight. :)

I wish I could knit better. I find it really relaxing and want to be able to create things like my mother and grandmother.

LOL - a lot of those are mine, too! I wish I was fluent in a language...

Hey Denise, thanks for stopping by.

I too wish I could do 2,3,4,6,8, & 9 ... excellent list..

Happy TT!

I don't know what #13 is all about, I thought this was a fantastic list!!

And #8 is something I wish for as well!!

Happy TT!

I would totally love to learn another language. I think I still have some work on my first language though. :)

Oh, it's not too late to learn ANY of those things, Denise. Besides, by learning them, you can then incorporate them into a book -- it's doubly good. (are you buying that?)

I think we ALL know the weight loss thing. But think of it this way: baking the way your mom and grandmother did probably means no electric mixers or other things that make it simpler. That means... you guessed it: you burn off all those calories you're about to eat.

Although swimming's probably a better calorie burn AND it lets your mind wander to ... write better.

It all comes back to writing in the end, doesn't it?

Happy TT!

Heck, we all have lists like this. I just wish I had more time to try more things! If you find a deal on will power, let me know, I need some of that myself.

This is a wonderful and thought provoking list. I might just snatch this idea for next week's TT! Or maybe things I CAN do. And there's not too much I do WELL, LOL

Happy Thursday!

That is a great post! It actually gets HARDER to make interesting TTs, lol.
I went parasailing once. Once I got up there and got used to it, it got boring, lol. I don't need to do it again.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Great list! My mental list has alot of the same things yours does! One day ... I hope! :o)

Thanks for stopping by my TT this week! Loved your story about Shake your Booty!!! :o)

Blogger Bianca D'Arc said...
I like your list and share pretty much all of those goals with you. LOL!

Blogger FRIGGA said...
Good luck with all that!

Blogger impworks said...
If you want to learn HTML just go for it. It's really not that hard. And a lot of economics isn't hard either especially if you don't get bogged down in the numbers part of it too once you get the non numbers stuff the numbers make far more sense.

Blogger Cindy said...
Great list, Denise! A few of those would be on my list, too. Stop by my TT when you get a moment. :)
